Effect of the Spider Peucetia Viridans (oxyopidae) on Floral Visitors and Seed Set of Cnidoscolus Multilobus (euphorbiaceae)
We studied the interaction between the plant Cnidoscolus multilobus, its floral visitors and the predator spider Peucetia viridans. The diet of P. viridans was composed exclusively of arthropods (spiders 32%, insects 68%). Body length of prey was 5.9 ± 1.0 mm, and prey size range was 11.0 ± 0.4 mm (i.e. 0.14-1.3 times larger than the spider). Based on feeding frequency and time available for pr...
متن کاملPatterns and sources of variation in pollen deposition and pollen tube formation in flowers of the endemic monoecious shrub Cnidoscolus souzae (Euphorbiaceae).
Pollen deposition and pollen tube formation are key components of angiosperm reproduction but intraspecific variation in these has rarely been quantified. Documenting and partitioning (populations, plants and flowers) natural variation in these two aspects of plant reproduction can help uncover spatial mosaics of reproductive success and underlying causes. In this study, we assess variation in ...
متن کاملNew Euphorbiaceae from Mexico
This article conta ined descriptions of five new taxa of Mexican Euphorbiaceae. Euphorbia (sub g. Agaloma) na yarensis is endemic to pine-oak woodland in the mount ains of central Nayarit. متن کامل(euphorbiaceae) from Colombia
A new species, Phyllanthus mutisianus, is described on the basis of a collection from Colombia made by the expedition of Jose Mutis. It is distinguishable from all other neotropical species of Phyllanthus by virtue of the distinctive leaf venation and very long fruiting pedicels. The type specimen lacks mature flowers, but the vegetative morphology, inflorescence, and fruiting structures sugges...
متن کاملSalt-Loaded Deoxycorticosterone Acetate-Escaped Rats
A B S T R A C T Proximal and distal tubular function was compared with urinary excretion in rats after chronic administration of salt and deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) or during salt deprivation. DOCA rats excreted significantly more sodium than did salt-deprived rats. Measurements of tubular fluid to plasma (TF/P) inulin ratios and concentrations of sodium and potassium in quantitative, t...
